Oh snap! You're watching Rich TVX News Network! The source of raw, breaking news.

Today we mounted the Toro 12.5hp flathead engine onto my yardmachines carcass of crap. I had to modify the front hood bracket to accommodate the toro muffler set up. I had to bypass the safety switches and rewire a new fuse holder. Removed the deck and attached the double stack pulley. Installed a new battery and throttle lever and cable. Installed a new fuel line and filter. Took a test drive on my driveway and it runs and drives well. Next we will address the mower deck which appears to be seized. read more

Hey everyone, I’ve had a bunch of people ask for T-shirts but I seriously doubted anyone would want one. I’m testing the waters with this campaign. If I don’t sell at least 5, no one will get charged for your order. If at least 5 of you order, they’ll be made and sent out to ya, and I’ll know to continue with it. Help me see if there’s enough interest for merch! I have cool colors with my logo on both front and back, with “CLEAN YOUR SHIT!” on the back! read more

I picked this yard tractor for free as the owner said both connecting rods were broken. I removed the engine and flipped it upside down and removed the sump cover to discover the condition of the connecting rods. Can this engine be saved?

thanks to @isavetractors for the #isavetractors hat and
@GriffinLawnService for the awesome #griffinlawnservice jacket.

My free Murray Lawn Tractor riding mower when started, sometimes the starter continues to spin because then energized plunger on the solenoid sticks in the energized position until you hit it with a screwdriver to disengage the plunger. To fix this issue, I just replaced the solenoid with a new one. There is an access cover under the dashboard of the tractor that you can remove and gain full access to the solenoid. The tractor had a 3 post solenoid which I had in stock and simply replaced it. Everything works as it should now. I also spent some time inserting inner tubes and fixing wheels with slow leaks from dry rot and cracks in the tires. I also took 6 broken starters and made 2 working ones. read more

In this 2nd episode of my GT6000 garden tractor, I flip it on its side to inspect why this thing doesnt steer. Not only is the sector missing 3 teeth, but the rack and pinion swivel shaft is also seized from years and years of rust build up. I disassemble the entire steering assembly to get it to steer again.

This was a free lawn tractor I got locally without an engine, it was designed to have a 17hp kohler with a rear gas tank using a fuel pump delivery system. I put a 9hp kawasaki engine from a rear engine from a john deere rx75 riding mower on it. It wasnt designed to have a fuel pump and the pulse from the breather wasnt strong enough to deliver gas from the rear all the way to the front. I tried 3 fuel pumps including an electric one…none of them worked well enough to allow the engine to run correctly, either it was starving for fuel or it flooded the carburetor. read more

After installing the engine from my craftsman LTV10 lawn tractor, I received my new flywheel, after installed it doesnt seem to charging at full 12 volts. As suspected, the stator was damaged from the DYT4000, therefore, I had to order a new stator. While I wait for it to arrive, I live up and free the pulleys and spindles on the mower deck and install it. Aside from the stator, this tractor is now alive again. I will sell this along with the matching dump trailer and install the snow plow on my GT6000. read more

In a previous episode, I attempt to weld blobs of flux metal to replace 3 missing teeth on my steering sector gear. While it worked for a while, the torque of steering merely grinded down the teeth that were meant to be cast iron strength. The stock original steering sector is extremely rare and hard to find. I did find one for $120 which I wasnt willing to pay. There were similar gears that are attached to a different linkage but I grinded the rivets off and welded onto my linkage. The part only cost $25 and now my steering is just like new. read more

I picked another free lawn tractor with trailer. The engine runs but there may be an issue with the transmission as it’s very hard to shift. It did not come with a battery and the steeri g sector may have stripped teeth. Nevertheless, the tractor has a working engine and has good wheels which I could always use should I scrap it. I will get it running though and figure out if it’s a salvageable tractor after I do an engine swap on the other free Craftsman LT1500 I got the other day. One tractor resurrection at a time. read more

in episode 3 here , i tear down the head on the yt3000 and replace the head gasket that blew that u saw in episode 1 and 2 that was smoking bad , after i replace the head gasket and clean up all the carbon buildup , it runs good now thank to @donECHOguy and @bronzechicken and well as @ellismowers and Henry from @mowersnblowers for the tips.

After the engine repower install, the fuel adjustment screw broke off this my not being able to adjust the fuel mixture. I summarily decided to swap out the carb for the original Scott Keller engine carburetor.

The engine surged quite a bit and wouldnt idle well so the carb swap was a must. The oil was terrible, one of the worst I’ve ever seen and it needed a change. Some of my subscribers told me to adjust the valves however, I didnt feel the need to, but nonetheless, I did it and it needed a small adjustment. The headlight harness was not hooked up so I installed the headlights and cleaned the lenses. I also installed a fuel shut off valve because it is a gravity fed gas tank and it ensures gas will not over flow to the crankcase. I do suspect the needle is not seating correctly and I may have to take the carb apart again. The combustion chamber flooded with gas and in had to relieve it by removing the spark plug and cranking it to blow the hydro lock out to start. read more

I got this tractor for free after I sold my $100 trailer to this guy Tom for $40. The tractor looked rough and my initial assessment was that this would be a pain to get running again. Much to my surprise, this was a super easy diagnosis and repair. All it needed was an oil change to extract the contaminated oil and replace with new fresh SAE 30 oil supplies by Lucas Oil Products.

It did need a new fuel line and I added a new fuel filter and fuel shut off valve from ProPartsDirect.net

I cleaned it up and adjusted the carburetor, and fixed the lights. Everything else was in good order. read more

On top of selling my Cub Cadet for $300, I pieced together a cracked hood and fabricated brackets to remount to the tractor and welded the mower deck of its rotted areas with sheet metal. To smooth out the sharp edges, I applied some JB Weld and wait for it to cure overnight.

I got this carcass of crap from my friend Nick from Medford. This LT1000 is a hydrostatic lawn tractor and is rusty but not rotted. The deck is intact and complete. The front transaxle was bent and fortunately I had spare parts to repair the entire front end. Given, the repair went so well, I’m inclined to continue use with the rebuilding of this tractor to operational. It would be a good challenge.

My brakes felt like they were always rubbing, so much that they were smoking. I think I had the brake pads adjustment nut too tight. tou can adjust the tension without removing the wheel.

The repowered engine had an attached muffler so I removed the original stock muffler out of the bottom cradle as well as the not needed heat shield.

I repaired the shifter quadrant because the 2 bottom plastic tabs were broken and was loose. I fabricated some tabs and it’s good as new.

Shined it up with some ATF fluid.

After my hand injury, it bothered me that I screwed up that main jet accident and I wasnt able to get that carburetor going. While my hand still hurts, I think my ultrasonic cleaner and help me a bit. I screwed that main jet back in and blew out the holes with @lucasoil brake parts cleaner and dunked the carb into my ultrasonic cleaner. I blew out all the holes again with an air compressor and guess what? Will it run?

From my previous episodes, you’ll know I almost tore down this tractor and parted it out for the curb but due to the great condition of it, I decided to try and rejuvenate the engine and see if it would run. After it ran so well, I decided to find a seat for it and eventually a deck.

My friend Jason saw a Facebook marketplace listing of the exact deck I needed in excellent condition for just $60. I ended up getting it for $40 which is very unlike what I do. I never pay for anything, but I thought it was a great deal for a deck in such great shape and an exact match to what I needed for this project to be completed. Therefore I had to spend the money which goes against my philosophy of my YouTube channel. read more

I was browsing through Craigslist and saw someone giving away 3 lawn tractors. The problem was, there was no address, just a vague map with a town vicinity. The other problem was that they were already on the curb and it’s about 40 mins away. The chances I would scoop up at least 1 of them was not looking likely. About 2 hours later, he posted a cross street which made me go out and try to grab one.

I was lucky enough to get the last one still sitting there around midnight. The next day I started to troubleshoot it and get it started. As you will see, I injured my hand which pretty much put an end to my day. read more

While test driving forward and reverse, I noticed it wasnt stopping well using the brake pedal. I suspected it needed an adjustment and / or new brake pads. It also had trouble starting sometimes due to too much compression. A valve adjustment fixed the issue.
