The City of Toronto announced Wednesday that more than 850 park amenities will reopen this week, two months after officials shut down all amenities in response to the coronavirus pandemic.

Ontario reported 413 new cases of the novel coronavirus on Thursday, bringing the provincial total to 24,187 cases. The death toll rose to 1,993 as 31 more deaths were reported. read more

Ontario’s chief medical officer of health Dr. David Williams is expected to provide an update Thursday on the latest COVID-19 cases in the province and discuss the public health agency’s ongoing response to the pandemic.

Ontario reported 390 new cases of the novel coronavirus on Wednesday, bringing the provincial total to 23,774.

The death toll has risen to 1,962 as 43 more deaths were reported.

According to health officials, 18,190 people have recovered from COVID-19, the disease caused by the virus, which is 76 per cent of cases. read more

Montreal Mayor Valérie Plante and regional public health director Mylène Drouin provide an update on Thursday on the city’s response to the COVID-19 pandemic. The mayor announced new measures that will be put in place to support Montreal merchants as they reopen businesses on Monday, May 25th.

The date for reopening was pushed back to May 25 in the Greater Montreal area after the government deemed the required criteria to safely reopen had not been met.

British Columbia’s provincial health officer Dr. Bonnie Henry and health minister Adrian Dix are expected to provide an update on the latest COVID-19 cases in the province and to discuss the government’s ongoing response to the pandemic on Tuesday.

Henry said Monday that two more people had died of COVID-19 and there were 16 more people diagnosed with the disease caused by the novel coronavirus from midday Saturday to midday Monday. This brings B.C.’s total to 143 deaths.

There were no new community or care home outbreaks in the province. In total, there are 528 people in long-term or acute care homes who have been diagnosed with the virus. read more

Nova Scotia Premier Stephen McNeil and the province’s chief medical officer of health Dr. Robert Strang are expected to provide an update on the ongoing government response to the spread of the coronavirus.

The province confirmed three new cases of the novel coronavirus on Monday, bringing the total number of cases to 1,043. To date, Nova Scotia has had 55 deaths.

As of Monday, there were two licensed long-term care homes and unlicensed seniors’ facilities in Nova Scotia with active cases of COVID-19. read more

Tory said on Tuesday that urgent joint action by the federal and provincial governments to support cities of the Greater Toronto and Hamilton Area (GTHA) is needed now.

Mayor Tory also thanked the Canadian National Exhibition board for the “right decision” of cancelling the CNE exhibition this summer, adding that “health must come first” and that now there is an opportunity to plan for a modern CNE in 2021. read more

Ontario reported 477 new cases of the COVID-19, the disease caused by the coronavirus, on Friday, bringing the provincial total to 19,598 cases. Federal ministers and public health officials provided an update on the government’s response to the COVID-19 pandemic on Wednesday morning.

Minister Duclos opened the briefing by paying respects to the victims of last week’s tragic CAF helicopter crash. The 6 crew members will be honoured with a repatriation ceremony on Wednesday at CFB Trenton.

British Columbia’s provincial health officer Dr. Bonnie Henry and health minister Adrian Dix provided an update on the latest COVID-19 cases in the province and discussed the government’s ongoing response to the pandemic on Thursday.

Dr. Henry reported 25 new cases of COVID-19 on Thursday and two additional deaths. There are 2,112 total cases, with 1,322 having recovered.

She also said that the province won’t have any large groups gathering this summer, but people can look at making their contact circles “slightly bigger.” read more
