Members of the coronavirus task force hold a press briefing Friday as House Speaker Nancy Pelosi calls for another bill expanding on the $2 trillion package Congress passed last week to limit the economic devastation brought on by the pandemic. There’s still no sign that the pandemic is winding down, and White House officials are projecting between 100,000 and 240,000 deaths in the U.S. with coronavirus fatalities peaking over the next two weeks.

B.C. chief medical officer of health Dr. Bonnie Henry said on Friday that the province had seen four more deaths and 53 new positive cases, bringing the total to 1,174.
She said the number of hospitalizations had gone down to 146 people, with 64 in critical care.
Henry said 641 people have recovered from COVID-19 and are out of isolation.

Ontario government has revealed projection numbers for the province to be just under 1,600 COVID-19 deaths and 80,000 cases by the end of April, if the current measures in place are upheld.
President and CEO of Public Health Ontario Dr. Peter Donnelly alongside President and CEO of Ontario Health Matthew Anderson and Dean of the Dalla Lana School of Public Health Adalsteinn Brown revealed the projected numbers at Queenâs Park on Friday.
The data also indicated that Ontario would have seen 300,000 cases of COVID-19 and 6,000 deaths by the end of the month if there was no government action or intervention.

The governor of New York, Andrew Cuomo, provides the latest on coronavirus
The first of the government’s emergency field hospitals to treat coronavirus patients has opened in east London’s ExCel centre.
The temporary NHS Nightingale Hospital is able to hold as many as 4,000 patients and will be staffed by NHS medics with help from the military.
Prince Charles paid tribute to staff as he opened the hospital via video link.
Similar hospitals are planned across the UK, including in Cardiff, Glasgow, Manchester, Harrogate and Bristol.
The ExCel exhibition space – usually used for large events such as Crufts and Comic Con – was transformed into a hospital in just nine days.

A grim global milestone in the unfolding coronavirus pandemic but in Australia there’s some hope – the number of cases is showing signs of stabilising.

0:00 There are now more than one million confirmed cases of covid-19 worldwide… More than fifty thousand people have died.
0:10 Australia has more than 5000 confirmed cases. A man in his 80s has died overnight in Victoria, taking the national toll to 25.
