We got a quick look at the 2021 Ram 1500 TRX. Of course everyone loves the TRX for it’s 702-horsepower and 650 lb.-ft of torque coming out of the 6.2L supercharged HEMI V-8. We had about a 15 minute drive and we soon found out it was way more than that.
When we encountered a low speed limit, the TRX was as refined as a Limited trim 1500. It was incredibly smooth and calm unlike other performance variants of vehicles that can some times act like a caged animal wanting to get out. Once the traffic and speed limit increased, we let the 2.4L supercharger spin to deliver a max of 11.6 psi. The audible whine from the supercharger gave me the biggest smile that was visible even through my COVID mask!
If equipped, Trailer Reverse Steering Control, or TRSC, allows the driver to backup a trailer using a knob located on the center stack. This video demonstrates how to use – and calibrate – the feature on your Ram Truck.

The driver controls the accelerator and brake pedals while steering the trailer in the direction the knob is turned.
This feature also allows the driver to back up a vehicle and trailer in a straight line when the knob is in the center position.

[voice over] The Drive Modes on your TRX give you control over how your truck responds to different driving conditions. To access them:
– Press the TRX button in the Apps menu, then Drive Modes toward the top of the touchscreen.
– Push the Left or Right Arrow button under the TRX button on the instrument panel to switch between modes and display your selection in the instrument cluster display. If the interface is already open on the touchscreen, the mode will be displayed there as well.
– Push the TRX button on the instrument panel, then press Drive Modes on the touchscreen. Double pushing the TRX button will engage the Custom Drive Mode.

Under the hood is yes, the beautiful 6.2L Supercharged V8 you’ve come to love from the Hellcat lineup. It produces 702 horsepower and 650 lb-ft of torque in the TRX. And the engine is ready to be pushed, with a cast-iron block, forged-steel crankshaft, powder-forged connecting rods, and forged-alloy pistons. Some changes versus the other hellcats include a deep sump oil pan to keep the pickup tube in the oil under high g cornering, and the alternator has been moved higher to allow for 32 inches of water fording.
