In Ottawa, Dr. Theresa Tam, Canadaā€™s chief public health officer, and Dr. Howard Njoo, deputy chief public health officer, join federal ministers to provide an update on the COVID-19 (coronavirus) outbreak.

The health ministry said that out of the total Covid-19 positive cases, 45 per cent cases are below the age of 40 years, 34 per cent are between 41-60 years and 19 per cent are above 60 years. 76 per cent of India Covid-19 patients are men, the ministry said.

Iran has reported that 158 people have died of COVID-19 in the last 24 hours.
There are nearly 56,000 confirmed cases in the country.
Despite the warning of a resurgence, Iran considers partial easing of social distancing restrictions to reduce the economic strain of the coronavirus outbreak.

Australiaā€™s coronavirus death toll has risen to 34, after four more deaths were recorded in NSW. Four men were confirmed to be the latest deaths in the state. Three of the men are believed to have acquired the illness on board the Ruby Princess cruise ship.

Manitoba Premier Brian Pallister and health Minister Cameron Friesen will make announcement in relation to the province’s efforts to curb the COVID-19 outbreak.

Dr. Brent Roussin, the provinceā€™s chief public health officer, and Lanette Siragusa, chief nursing officer, provide an update on the province’s COVID-19 response will deliver their daily briefing at approx. 2pm ET.

Manitoba announced on Tuesday that schools across the province would be closed indefinitely through the rest of the school year in response to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. read more

Toronto Mayor John Tory joins Dr. Eileen de Villa, medical officer of health for Toronto, and other officials provided an update on the city’s response to COVID-19 on Wednesday.

On Monday, Tory announced that the city would be cancelling all public events through June 30, including the Pride Parade, in an effort to slow the spread of COVID-19 and ensure the safety of the community, as the city nears almost 800 total cases of the novel coronavirus disease.

In addition, the mayor said the TTC will be adding additional buses on typically busier routes to help avoid crowding and ensure distance can be maintained for all essential workers who need to take public transit. read more

World Health Organization officials are holding a press conference to update the public on the coronavirus outbreak, which has infected more than 732,000 people across the globe. On Friday, WHO officials said the first patients have been enrolledĀ for a “historic” drug trial to test treatments for the coronavirus. There are no proven therapies yet for the coronavirus, which has killed at least 34,600 people across the globe.

Saskatchewanā€™s Chief Medical Health Officer Dr. Saqib Shahab will provide an update on COVID-19 cases on Saturday.

The government said on Friday that there were 104 confirmed cases in the province.

Six people have now been hospitalized ā€” three in Regina, two in Saskatoon and one in the north. Two people are in the ICU ā€” one each in Regina and Saskatoon.

More cases have been reported in northern Saskatchewan.

British Columbia’s provincial health officer, Dr. Bonnie Henry, announced seven new cases of the novel coronavirus on Wednesday, bringing the total number of cases in the province to 46.

Among the new cases is the first reported on Vancouver Island, which Henry said is one of three cases linked to travel to Egypt.

Henry said health officials have also identified two new cases of community transmission through B.C.’s influenza surveillance testing.
