The number of coronavirus deaths in Spain has fallen for the third day in a row – a glimmer of hope in the hard-hit country where more than 12,400 have died.

In the last 24 hours the country’s deaths have gone up by 674, taking the total to 12,418 people.

Queen Elizabeth will address the UK on Sunday, Buckingham Palace said, only the fifth time she has done so other than at Christmas during her 68 years on the throne.

The government has put Britain into a virtual lockdown, closing pubs, restaurants and nearly all shops, while banning social gatherings and ordering Britons to stay at home unless it is absolutely essential to venture out.

Health director-general Datuk Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said Malaysia will receive test kits from South Korea for Covid-19 on Monday as the ministry is enhancing the resources and capacity at testing laboratories.

He said the ministry will also look into an automated device from China which will generate results of tests faster.

Nearly 20,000 foreign workers are under quarantine in two dorms in Singapore – S11 Dormitory @ Punggol and Westlite Toh Guan – after large clusters of COVID-19 cases were found.

As of Apr 5, the two dorms are linked to at least 90 cases of the coronavirus.

More than 100 sailors on board the USS Theodore Roosevelt are sick from COVID-19. Capt. Brett Crozier, who was commanding the ship, alerted his superiors about the dangerous conditions on board.
