New York Governor Andrew Cuomo gave a briefing to media on the state’s ongoing COVID-19 crisis on Friday.

Cuomo said that the state’s total COVID-19 hospitalizations are declining. However, how fast the curve for hospitalizations and cases will continue to decline depends on how citizens adhere to social distancing measures and how much testing for the virus could be conducted, Cuomo said.

The governor added that by the time the U.S. instated a travel ban from China, the “horse had already left the barn,” meaning the novel coronavirus had already spread worldwide, and the virus in the state likely came from the strain in Europe after around 13,000 flights from Europe landed in New York and New Jersey. read more
