Coronavirus outbreak: Ontario recommends wearing non-medical masks as province reopens | FULL

Ontario Premier Doug Ford urged residents to continue to follow physical distancing guidelines and to wear non-medical face masks when social distancing is not possible, a day after the province entered Phase 1 of its reopening plan.

The premier was joined by Deputy Premier and Health Minister Christine Elliott and Transportation Minister Caroline Mulroney for a daily briefing Wednesday on the province’s response to the coronavirus pandemic.

In addition, Mulroney said the province is recommending anyone travelling by public transportation to wear a face covering, except those who are under the age of two, has trouble breathing or is unable to remove a mask without assistance.

She said health officials are also recommending that transit agencies put certain health measures in place, including adding physical markers between seats, making alcohol-based hand sanitizer available and putting plexiglass barriers in place.
