Ontario Premier Doug Ford and other officials are expected to make an announcement and discuss the province’s response to the COVID-19 pandemic on Thursday.

Ford announced on Wednesday the gradual reopening of select non-essential businesses to begin at the end of this week, from nurseries and garden centres this Friday, hardware and safety supply stores on Saturday, and retail stores with street entrances will be allowed to open for curbside pickup only starting on Monday.

The government also extended all emergency orders until May 19 and hydro rate relief for residences, farmers and small businesses have been extended until May 31.
