Speaking from outside his home in Ottawa, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau discusses the federal government’s response to the ongoing COVID-19 (coronavirus) outbreak.

Speaking in the House of Commons on Saturday, Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau called on Canadians to fight for “every inch of ground” in the struggle to contain COVID-19.

Trudeau evoked memories of Canada’s military struggles in generations past, before warning Canadians of this generation that in today’s war against COVID-19, the front lines are now “everywhere.”

Trudeau also praised the achievements of the so-called “greatest generation” in the two World Wars, saying the struggle facing modern Canada in the form of COVID-19 was so dire because it represented the greatest danger to this group. read more

Speaking to reporters outside Rideau Cottage in Ottawa on Thursday, Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau said even under the best-case projections released earlier in the day by his government, it’s likely the “first wave” of COVID-19 peak infection will likely not end until the summer.

“Normality, as it was before, will not come back full-on until we get a vaccine for this… That will be a very long way off,” the prime minister said.

Trudeau said well after the initial peak of COVID-19 infection rates has passed in Canada, Canadians should expect “wavelets” of COVID-19 infections to keep popping back up until a reliable vaccination is developed. read more

American government officials inside Donald Trump’s White House are actively discussing putting troops near the Canadian borders in light of U.S. border security concerns around the coronavirus pandemic, sources tell Global News.
