There may be light at the end of the tunnel today for London as new modelling suggests the capital’s coronavirus outbreak is slowing dramatically.

The research by Public Health England and Cambridge University suggests the reproduction rate of the virus, the ‘r’ is now at 0.4 in the capital. Meaning for every ten people who catch coronavirus, it will be passed on to just four others.

The research estimates that new daily infections in the capital are now at just 24

Before the lockdown, London’s r rate was around 2.8, with 213,000 people being infected a day by March 23rd, when the lockdown was imposed. read more
