President Cyril Rampahosa will visit the Western Cape this morning to assess the readiness of the province in response to the COVID19 pandemic. The province is the epicenter of the outbreak with more than 27000 confirmed cases and over 600 deaths.

In a news conference at Queen’s Park, Ontario Premier Doug Ford and Health Minister Christine Elliott provide an update on their government’s response to the ongoing COVID-19 (coronavirus disease) pandemic, including the introduction of Ontario’s new, expanded strategy for COVID-19 testing. They are joined by Dr. David Williams, Ontario’s chief medical officer of health.

Ontario’s chief medical officer of health Dr. David Williams is expected to provide an update Thursday on the latest COVID-19 cases in the province and discuss the public health agency’s ongoing response to the pandemic.

Ontario reported 390 new cases of the novel coronavirus on Wednesday, bringing the provincial total to 23,774.

The death toll has risen to 1,962 as 43 more deaths were reported.

According to health officials, 18,190 people have recovered from COVID-19, the disease caused by the virus, which is 76 per cent of cases. read more

Nova Scotia Premier Stephen McNeil and the province’s chief medical officer of health Dr. Robert Strang are expected to provide an update on the ongoing government response to the spread of the coronavirus.

The province confirmed three new cases of the novel coronavirus on Monday, bringing the total number of cases to 1,043. To date, Nova Scotia has had 55 deaths.

As of Monday, there were two licensed long-term care homes and unlicensed seniors’ facilities in Nova Scotia with active cases of COVID-19. read more

Ontario’s chief medical officer of health Dr. David Williams and associate chief medical officer of health Dr. Barbara Yaffe are expected to provide an update on the latest COVID-19 cases in the province and discuss the public health agency’s ongoing response to the pandemic on Friday.

Dr. Williams reported Thursday that Ontario saw 459 new COVID-19 cases to bring the total to 16,187. The province also had 86 additional deaths to bring that total to 1,082.

Quebec Premier François Legault and health officials provide an update on the province’s COVID-19 response plan.

Legault on Thursday urged residents to consider volunteering to help the elderly and other residents who may have difficulty with things like buying groceries during the novel coronavirus pandemic.

Two more COVID-19 related deaths were reported Thursday, bringing the total number in the province to six.

As of Thursday afternoon, there were 1,629 COVID-19 cases in Quebec and 43 people remain in intensive care. read more

Manitoba Premier Brian Pallister will be provide an update on the province’s response to the COVID-19 pandemic. Pallister is scheduled to speak at 2pm ET/3pm CT.

Dr. Brent Roussin, Manitoba’s chief provincial public health officer, announced one new case of COVID-19 during a Thursday briefing. Roussin says the individual is a man in his 20s living in Winnipeg. He said public health continues to investigate the case and at this point “it does appear there is a link to a previously announced case.” read more
