Hello, this is Day!🙋:D
Today’s video is about a college vlog! I was thinking about what I should do for the first video in 2021, and I wanted to start with my college life vlog that you liked the most, Korea university student life. Oh, don’t worry. This is a video that I took in 2019 when I was in school a year ago. I’ve been asleep on my hard disk, but now it’s open to the world! yay!

While editing the video, I missed my college life when I laughed with my friends on campus. I wanted to feel the atmosphere of the lecture room… I think this is the opportunity to realize that small happiness that I didn’t know until this situation happened. read more

[Expansion of cultural cooperation through culture, tourism, and Korean Wave(Hallyu)]
The world’s interest in the entertainment industry in Korea such as K-pop music, K-movies, and K-games is leading to interest in Korean culture, Korean language, tourism, and even purchase of Korean products. Hallyu(Korean-wave) was once regarded as a temporary, accidental event, but it is now recognized as a persistent, undeniable phenomenon. Rather than discussing Hallyu from a narrow perspective, this session aims to view Hallyu as a new medium that can be enjoyed by people around the world and connect the world as one. To this end, Hallyu will be viewed from the perspective of cultural exchange and international cooperation, and we will discuss how to develop it. read more

South Korea has for the first time since February recorded no new cases of coronavirus from within the country. 4 new cases were recorded from people coming in from abroad, however, these people were tested and quarantined on arrival.

South Korea is being touted as one of the most successful countries in being able to fight the COVID-19 outbreak, with its so-called curve of cases being an outlier compared to the rest of the world. Total confirmed cases in South Korea stand at 10,765. The nation has a population of 51 million people. In Europe by contrast, countries such as the UK and Italy, where cases total 165,000 and 203,000 respectively, have had far more cases of COVID-19 and deaths from the virus. read more

Systems of extensive testing and contact tracing helped South Korea quickly flatten its COVID-19 curve, but many Western countries might think some of the methods infringe too much on privacy.

Matthew Lesh, Head of Research at the Adam Smith Institue argues why the UK failed to test enough people quick enough, especially compared to other countries such as Germany and South Korea. Matthew speaks to the Sun for its ‘Hot Takes’ series where experts give their view on current affairs. Mr Lesh explains how the NHS centralised testing, failed to reach out to private companies and universities and failed to adapt to a better strategy.

코로나19 국내 확진자 1천명 넘어

South Korea is seeing a sharp rise in coronavirus infections on a daily basis now… the number of confirmed cases in the nation has surpassed one-thousand.
For more details, we have our Kim Ji-yeon on the line.
Jiyeon, the number of COVID-19 cases continues to shoot up, especially in the virus-stricken city of Daegu and the surrounding areas?
That’s right.
The number of newly confirmed patients jumped by 169 from the previous day… raising the total number of cases in South Korea to one-thousand-146, as of Wednesday morning.
The one-thousand cases threshold has been reached just 37 days after the country reported its first confirmed patient.
The majority of the newly confirmed cases are in the southeastern city of Daegu and the surrounding Gyeongsangbuk-do Province.
In an email sent by the U.S. Forces Korea on Thursday… a soldier stationed at Camp Carroll in the southeastern county of Chilgok , Gyeongsangbuk-do Province… had tested positive for coronavirus, marking the first time a U.S. service member has been confirmed to have the virus.
The patient, is said to be a 23-year-old male.
Health authorities are working to determine whether any others may have been exposed.
The central disaster headquarters of the Korea Centers for Disease Control is delivering the list of some 212-thousand members of Shincheonji religious group to municipal governments today for a thorough investigation.
Authorities see the main source of the virus in South Korea as coming from the religious group… and those that have been in contact with its members.
Meanwhile, the official death toll from the coronavirus in South Korea is tallied at eleven so far… but local media outlets have cited Daegu officials as saying one more death has occurred… a 73-year-old male who had been hospitalized in Daegu.
If confirmed, it would mark the 12th death in Korea due to the coronavirus.
The number of people in South Korea who have been discharged from hospital after making a full recovery remains the same as the previous day at 22.
Prime Minister Chung Sye-kyun, in the first meeting he presided over in Daegu on Wednesday, stressed for strong containment measures… and stated the government is aiming to stabilize the situation in Daegu within four weeks.
Back to you. read more

미군 코로나 19 감염 첫 케이스…박한기-에이브럼스, 3월 연합훈련 ‘축소’ 여부 논의

For the first time an American soldier in South Korea has been confirmed to be infected with the virus.
Seoul’s Defense Ministry is in talks with USFK to discuss whether they should diminish the scale of the joint military exercises scheduled for early March.
Hong Yoo has the full story.
A U.S. soldier in South Korea has tested positive for the coronavirus on Wednesday, the first U.S. service member to do so.
The 23-year-old male is based in Camp Carroll, which is around 20 kilometers from Daegu, where more than half of the cases in the country have been confirmed.
He is currently in self-quarantine at his off-base residence.
The soldier had been at Camp Carroll since last Friday and visited Camp Walker in Daegu earlier this week.
A USFK dependent, who was confirmed on Monday to have contracted the virus, had also visited Camp Walker two weeks ago.
Local health authorities, along with USFK health professionals, are using contact tracing to find others who may have been exposed.
In efforts to cease the spread of the epidemic, USFK is minimizing outdoor activities and has strengthened screening methods at base entrances.
It also advised all personnel to practice strict proper hygiene procedures and to refrain from going to school or work if any symptoms begin to show.
Because of the spike in COVID-19 cases, Joint Chief of Staff Chairman General Park Han-ki, and his counterpart, USFK Commander General Robert Abrams, are reviewing the adjustment of their joint drills scheduled for early March.
They are considering reducing the scale of the exercises, postponing or even cancelling.
A decision is expected to be announced this week.
If South Korean and U.S. military leaders decide to reduce or cancel the joint drills, it will be the first time in doing so due to an infectious disease.

코로나19 신규환자 334명 ‘하루 발생 최다’…전국 미사, 여행노선 중단

The country reports over 15-hundred confirmed cases as of today… with a total of 13 deaths from the virus.
For the latest on COVID-19 in South Korea… we connect to our Choi Jeong-yoon on the line.
Jeong-yoon, hundreds more people were confirmed to have the virus.
Yes, Jiyoon, South Korea confirmed 3-hundred 34 new cases on Thursday.
This brings the total number in the country to one-thousand-five-hundred-95.
Since the country’s first infection on January 20th, this is the highest number of infections in a single day.
Most of the cases were in Daegu and the southeastern part of the country.
307 of the new cases are in Daegu and four each from the Gyeongsangbuk-do and Chungcheongnam-do provinces.
South Korea’s central region also saw new cases.
Six more in Seoul, three in Daejeon and four in Gyeonggi-do province.
South Korea also reported its 13th death on Thursday.
The 73-year old man from Daegu was one of the those related to the Shincheonji religious group.
He was tested for the virus last Sunday and the results came back positive on Tuesday.
He seemed to have no special symptoms other than fever and a cough… but started to have difficulty breathing on Thursday morning and died after CPR.
Due to the rapid spread of the virus, places and venues have been closed where close contact with other people is impossible to avoid. How are things going in that regard?
Seoul city has banned all assemblies scheduled to happen in the center of the city.
It has expanded the area where assemblies are banned to now include Jong-ro, so protestors won’t be able to gather in most parts of central Seoul.
Roads near Seoul Plaza had already been restricted.
The government said those who hold assemblies in the area could be fined up to 2-thousand-5-hundred U.S. dollars.
Amid the spread of the virus, all 16 dioceses of the Korean Catholic Church have halted all Masses.
Such measures are a first in 236 years of the Catholic Church in Korea.
The nation‘s railway operator Korail has also temporarily stopped lines that are mostly used by group tourists.
The lines include the O-train, which circles through central regions and the S-train, that runs along the coast of southern parts.
The number of national express buses to Daegu have also been cut as passenger numbers have plunged due to the outbreak there. read more
