Xi Jinping insisted that any inquiry should wait until the virus is contained. China is accused of stalling probe of Coronavirus origins. Several countries including United States and Australia were demanding of an independent investigation into the origins and early handling of the coronavirus outbreak. Chinese President Xi Jinping on Monday denied his country hasn’t been transparent about the spread of the coronavirus. ‘We have turned the tide on the virus and in protecting the life and health of our people. Donald Trump has stepped up his anti-China rhetoric saying he was very disappointed over its failure to contain the novel coronavirus.

It’s now thought the US-China trade deal could be under threat.

The Trump administration has cut funding for U.S. nonprofit research into coronaviruses in bats. The renowned EcoHealth Alliance saw its $3.7 grant revoked over their ties to the Wuhan Institute of Virology, which Secretary of State Mike Pompeo has accused of engineering the novel coronavirus in one of its labs. While some individual states have already filed suits against China, the administration of US President Donald Trump is reportedly considering measures against China for its handling of the coronavirus pandemic.
Trump’s position is that China could have done more to warn and protect the world from the pandemic.

Datuk Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah on Saturday revealed that Malaysia will be one the countries collaborating with China on a vaccine for Covid-19.

The Health director-general said China, which is currently in its second phase of testing the vaccine is expected to complete trials by December.

Mr. Trump said he is considering new tariffs on China to hold it accountable for the outbreak in the U.S. At the White House Thursday, the president claimed to have seen credible evidence that the virus originated in a Wuhan lab, but gave no further details. The WHO has complained that the organisation has been kept from fully investigating the origins of the novel coronavirus in Wuhan, China.

US President Donald Trump said his hard-fought trade deal with China was now of secondary importance to the coronavirus pandemic and he threatened new tariffs on Beijing, as his administration crafted retaliatory measures over the outbreak.

Mr Trump’s sharpened rhetoric against China reflected his growing frustration with Beijing over the pandemic, which has cost tens of thousands of lives in the US alone, sparked an economic contraction and threatened his chances of re-election in November. read more

The Chinese government reacted to India’s decision to return rapid antibody test kits for Covid-19 which had been found to be faulty. A day after the Indian Council for Medical Research said that test kits supplied by two Chinese firms should not be used, Beijing expressed objections. China claimed that the test kits had been approved by the China Food and Drug Administration, as well as Indian National Virus Research Institute. A day earlier, the Indian government had clarified that no payment had been made to the firms so far. read more
