Engine, Transmission, and Performance
The Lyriq will come standard in rear-wheel drive form with an electric motor on the rear axle; all-wheel drive will be optional and adds a second motor at the front to drive those wheels. Cadillac has been mum on details about the Lyriq’s all-wheel drive powertrain so far, so we don’t know how much horsepower it will make; the rear-wheel drive model is said to produce 340 horsepower. Either way, acceleration is sure to be brisk, at least at lower speeds, thanks to the immediate nature of an electric motor’s power delivery. The I-Pace, for example, leapt to 60 mph in just 4.3 seconds during our testing; we expect the Lyriq to provide similar performance.

The production debut of the 2023 Cadillac LYRIQ is the culmination of a century of innovation and the beginning of a great new era. With testing of Cadillac’s inaugural electric luxury SUV running ahead of schedule, the brand announced that customers may place order reservations beginning in September 2021, with initial availability starting the first half of 2022.
LYRIQ will be available with premier technologies and stirring performance capabilities enabled by the vehicle’s dedicated electric architecture. A 12-module, 100 kilowatt-hour battery pack and a rear-wheel-drive Ultium Platform deliver a Cadillac-estimated 340 horsepower and 440 Nm of torque — and a Cadillac-estimated over 300 miles of range with a full charge.
The first electric Cadillac is almost here. It will be built in Spring Hill, Tennessee, alongside other future GM electric vehicles. The Lyriq will be sold in both single-motor rear-wheel-drive and dual-motor all-wheel-drive versions. Cadillac says it will have a range of more than 300 miles on a single charge, using GM’s modular platform and Ultium scalable battery architecture. Although details are still hush-hush, Cadillac says the Lyriq will likely offer a battery with about 100-kWh worth of capacity, with DC fast charging standard. Photos of the Lyriq’s giant 33.0-inch curved LED display have been shared, and Cadillac recently partnered with a digital design company that’s worked on video games and movies for the display’s look and feel.

The Cadillac Lyric is based on GM’s next-generation modular EV platform and is powered by the brand’s upcoming ‘Ultium’ electric powertrain family which will offer more than 300 miles of driving range in its top 100kWh battery spec.
The carmaker also adds that the new Lyric is compatible with up to 150 kW DC fast-charging and Level 2 charging rates of up to 19 kW. Customers will be offered both rear-wheel-drive and all-wheel-drive versions
