Kate Beckinsale began making a name for herself as an actress by starring in British costume dramas in the early ’90s. She broke out of that mold by moving to the United States and starring in movies like The Last Days of Disco, Brokedown Palace, Pearl Harbor, and Serendipity.
She then took her career to an action movie phase by becoming the face of the Underworld film series. It opened up opportunities for her to star in other action movies like Van Helsing and Total Recall.

Her involvement has long been uncertain, but it looks like Kate Beckinsale will be back for a 5th Underworld movie. Todayās episode of Clevver News Feed is brought to you by Pitch Perfect 2, now playing! Plans for a new Underworld movie have been in the works for some time with great uncertainty of how the popular action-horror movie would be moving forward. Back in August it was reported that producers were looking to reboot the franchise with a new cast only to bring word a month later that it would not be a reboot after all, but instead focus on Theo Jamesā āDavidā character from 2012ās Underworld: Awakening with Kate Beckinsale likely not returning. Then in October, series co-creator and director Len Wiseman revealed that the Theo James film, titled Underworld: Next Generation, would be more of a spinoff to expand the universe ala Marvel with Kate Beckinsale likely to return to the franchise at some point. Well, that some point appears to be now as THR reports that Kate Beckinsale has officially signed on to once again play vampire āSeleneā in a fifth Underworld movie. As for Theo James, he told Digital Spy back in March that he would likely not be involved in Next Generation due to his commitments to the Divergent franchise and other commitments, but THR does point out that he is currently attached to reprise his role in the film to fulfill his option agreement. In addition to Beckinsaleās return, the film has also landed Anna Foerster to helm the project. This will mark Foersterās first feature directing gig. She previously has worked as Director of Photography and Second Unit Director work on several of Roland Emmerichās films including White House Down, 2012 and The Day After Tomorrow. She has also directed several episodes of the Starz series, Outlander. The plot of Underworld 5 is being kept under wraps, but is expected to focus on a new generation of vampires and werewolves with production set to begin this October in Prague for a likely release late 2016 or early 2017. Van Helsing Trailer – Directed by Stephen Sommers and starring Hugh Jackman, Richard Roxburgh, David Wenham, Shuler Hensley, Will Kemp. Vampire hunter extraordinaire Dr. Van Helsing travels to a mysterious region of Eastern Europe on a quest to vanquish the big three — Count Dracula, the Wolf Man and Frankenstein’s Monster. On hand is Van Helsing’s intrepid assistant, Anna, the heir to a family committed to hunting down and destroying the Count.
Van Helsing is a 2004 action gothic horror film written and directed by Stephen Sommers. It stars Hugh Jackman as monster hunter Van Helsing, and Kate Beckinsale as Anna Valerious. The film is a homage and tribute to the Universal Horror Monster films from the 1930s and 1940s (also produced by Universal Studios which were in turn partially based on novels by Bram Stoker and Mary Shelley), of which Sommers is a fan.
The eponymous character was inspired by the Dutch vampire hunter Abraham Van Helsing from Irish author Bram Stoker’s novel Dracula. Distributed by Universal Pictures, the film includes a number of monsters such as Count Dracula (and other vampires), Frankenstein’s monster, Duergar, Mr. Hyde and werewolves in a way similar to the multi-monster movies that Universal produced in the 1940s, such as Frankenstein Meets the Wolf Man, House of Frankenstein and House of Dracula. The film received mostly negative reviews but has grossed $300 million worldwide.

Kathrin Romary Beckinsale (born 26 July 1973) is an English actress. After some minor television roles, she made her film debut in Much Ado About Nothing (1993) while still a student at the University of Oxford. She appeared in British costume dramas such as Prince of Jutland (1994), Cold Comfort Farm (1995), Emma (1996), and The Golden Bowl (2000), in addition to various stage and radio productions. She began to seek film work in the United States in the late 1990s and, after appearing in small-scale dramas The Last Days of Disco (1998) and Brokedown Palace (1999), she had starring roles in the war drama Pearl Harbor and the romantic comedy Serendipity. She followed those with appearances in The Aviator (2004) and Click (2006).
