The novel coronavirus has claimed more than 100,000 lives in the U.S. since February 29th and continues to spread as some states loosen shutdown restrictions. From the announcement of the first confirmed case in the U.S. on Jan. 21, Trump and his team’s messaging on the crisis has evolved. However, a constant in the rhetoric has been an attempt to recast the administration’s actions in fighting the pandemic. Their version of the story illustrates a successful — and often inaccurate — picture of the response.
Russian and Chinese state media are using their Arabic channels to spread the conspiracy that Covid-19 is an American biological weapon. One Russian report has gone viral and been viewed more than 1 million times. But a small group of young Arab activists – led by an Iraqi refugee living in New York – are fighting back against those falsehoods and other forms of misinformation about the pandemic.

A coronavirus patient who almost died from the disease says he is concerned there will be a second wave of cases across Australia due to a “complacency” about the threat posed by the novel pathogen.
Joseph Tannous spent two weeks in Sydney’s St George Hospital’s intensive care unit battling COVID-19-linked pneumonia.
Mr Tannous, who at the time of his infection was a fit and healthy 49-year-old, said the severity of his infection caught him off guard.
“Twice there my family was told I might not make it through,” he said.
Chinese President Xi Jinping on Monday denied his country hasn’t been transparent about the spread of the coronavirus. ‘We have turned the tide on the virus and in protecting the life and health of our people. All along we have acted with openness, transparency and with responsibility. We have provided information to the WHO and the relevant countries in the most timely fashion. We have released the genome at the earliest possible time. We have share the control and treatment with the world without reservation’, he said.

In order to prevent Chinese aluminum producers from invading the Korean market, the Korean aluminum industry began jointly resisting a Chinese aluminum giant from entering the market in South Jeolla Province’s Gwangyang Bay Area since 2018.
In November 2018, Henan Mingtai Aluminum, a Chinese aluminum sheet manufacturer, signed an investment contract with the Gwangyang Bay Area Free Economic Zone authority. It plans to invest $40 billion won ($32.8 million USD) to produce aluminum products. The groundbreaking ceremony was held in December 2018 to kick off the construction of the plant, but the project was opposed by the Korean aluminum industry.
