Kate Beckinsale began making a name for herself as an actress by starring in British costume dramas in the early ’90s. She broke out of that mold by moving to the United States and starring in movies like The Last Days of Disco, Brokedown Palace, Pearl Harbor, and Serendipity.
She then took her career to an action movie phase by becoming the face of the Underworld film series. It opened up opportunities for her to star in other action movies like Van Helsing and Total Recall.

Her involvement has long been uncertain, but it looks like Kate Beckinsale will be back for a 5th Underworld movie. Today’s episode of Clevver News Feed is brought to you by Pitch Perfect 2, now playing! Plans for a new Underworld movie have been in the works for some time with great uncertainty of how the popular action-horror movie would be moving forward. Back in August it was reported that producers were looking to reboot the franchise with a new cast only to bring word a month later that it would not be a reboot after all, but instead focus on Theo James’ “David” character from 2012’s Underworld: Awakening with Kate Beckinsale likely not returning. Then in October, series co-creator and director Len Wiseman revealed that the Theo James film, titled Underworld: Next Generation, would be more of a spinoff to expand the universe ala Marvel with Kate Beckinsale likely to return to the franchise at some point. Well, that some point appears to be now as THR reports that Kate Beckinsale has officially signed on to once again play vampire “Selene” in a fifth Underworld movie. As for Theo James, he told Digital Spy back in March that he would likely not be involved in Next Generation due to his commitments to the Divergent franchise and other commitments, but THR does point out that he is currently attached to reprise his role in the film to fulfill his option agreement. In addition to Beckinsale’s return, the film has also landed Anna Foerster to helm the project. This will mark Foerster’s first feature directing gig. She previously has worked as Director of Photography and Second Unit Director work on several of Roland Emmerich’s films including White House Down, 2012 and The Day After Tomorrow. She has also directed several episodes of the Starz series, Outlander. The plot of Underworld 5 is being kept under wraps, but is expected to focus on a new generation of vampires and werewolves with production set to begin this October in Prague for a likely release late 2016 or early 2017. Margot Robbie is one of the best and most desirable young actresses working in Hollywood today. Born in Australia, she made the move to North America and quickly landed on her feet with a supporting role in the Rachel McAdams movie “About Time”, which quickly paved the way for her big break as Naomi Lapaglia, wife to Leonardo DiCaprio’s Jordan Belford. Both actors would be nominated for their performances but all eyes were now on Margot Robbie, a newcomer who appeared on screen wearing nothing at all because she thought it served the role better. She also got some battle scars from an intimate scene with Leo and even accidently kicked him in the face! To get the role, she also slapped Leo without warning during auditions! Speaking of bodily damage, she also decked her Tarzan co-lead in the face after taking direction perhaps a bit too literally. She played the lead in I, Tonya and did the movie with a herniated disc in her neck! She’s also a tomboy who loves beer, fries and burgers and hockey. She almost turned down the role of Queen Elizabeth I in Mary Queen of Scots due to the legacy around the character on film. She became a part time tattooist on set of Suicide Squad, and accidently made an error on her first one! She also did most of her own stunts and learned to hold her breath for almost five minutes! She was a standout in Suicide Squad and will be getting her own sequel and spin off film soon, Birds of Prey, and will likely appear in Suicide Squad 2. She also has her own production company, because she’s a boss. She’s turned down Playboy because she believes nudity serves a film’s plot, not because of the appeal. She’ll also be playing the iconic Barbie doll in 2020, a film she’ll also produce in hopes of inspiring a new generation.
