Covid-19: How have countries in Europe eased coronavirus lockdowns? | ITV News

While we have to wait until Sunday to find out how our lockdown will be eased, the process is starting today in Italy – the first European country to bring in restrictions.

Its sleeping economic life – and social life – for that matter have started to stir.

And it is happening in other places too today.

In Spain, small shops are able to reopen, including hairdressers – wouldn’t that be lovely – bookshops, florists and takeaways.

In Portugal too small shops can open again and people are allowed to travel on public transport so long as they wear masks.

In Croatia, today marked Phase Two in lifting their lockdown. They opened some beaches, as they did in Greece today, and also allowed hairdressers and beauticians to reopen.

And, in Italy, four and a half million people were allowed back to work, in factories, building sites and in cafes ANI and restaurants doing takeaways. And families could meet again – if they don’t live too far apart.
