Toronto Mayor John Tory, the city's chief medical officer of health Dr. Eileen de Villa and Toronto Fire Chief Matthew Pegg, who serves as general manager of the city's Office of Emergency Management, are expected to provide an update Tuesday on the ongoing response to COVID-19.

On Monday, another long-term care home in the Toronto-area reported 25 of its residents had died from COVID-19, with 49 confirmed cases. Earlier in the day, de Villa said that she was "very concerned" about outbreaks at the city's long-term care facilities,

As of Monday, there were cases reported at 39 facilities in the city.
