While Amazon may glorify its workers with sentimental commercials, thanking them for their heroic bravery, it has also rolled back some policies designed to keep those very workers safe during this pandemic. And on June 1 it got rid of hazard pay too, even though its facilities continue to see outbreaks of the coronavirus.

In a statement to Recode, an Amazon spokesperson said: “We are grateful to associates supporting customers during a time of increased demand, and are returning to our regular pay and overtime wages at the end of the month.” read more

New York Governor Andrew Cuomo said there were 2,000 new admissions to hospitals who tested positive for coronavirus and 540 deaths in the state on Friday. Cuomo said called nursing homes “the single biggest fear in all of this.” Watch his remarks.

As the federal government extends its social distancing guidance, Dr. Deborah Birx, the White House coronavirus response coordinator, joins “CBS This Morning” to explain what needs to happen before the restrictions can be lifted. Fears are growing that it won’t be possible to stop the global spread of Coronavirus. Health experts have warned that the chances of containing it are diminishing as cases appear in more countries.

Most infections are still in China, but significant clusters in South Korea, Iran and Italy causing concern.
