Amazon Warehouses Are Still Seeing Coronavirus Outbreaks. Why Did They End Hazard Pay? | NYT Opinion

While Amazon may glorify its workers with sentimental commercials, thanking them for their heroic bravery, it has also rolled back some policies designed to keep those very workers safe during this pandemic. And on June 1 it got rid of hazard pay too, even though its facilities continue to see outbreaks of the coronavirus.

In a statement to Recode, an Amazon spokesperson said: “We are grateful to associates supporting customers during a time of increased demand, and are returning to our regular pay and overtime wages at the end of the month.”
