Ever since The Force Awakens we’ve wanted to know who Rey’s parents are and what role her past could play in her future. While Kylo Ren dismissed them as filthy junk traders, fans still wonder if there’s something more to the story. One seemingly far-fetched theory involves the hand of Luke Skywalker, a clone, and the machinations of Emperor Palpatine. But regardless of her origins, it seems the true story of Rise of Skywalker is her battle of nature versus nurture which could lead to a path outside of the Order of the Sith. The special look trailer from the D23 expo was certainly intriguing and made fans wonder if the Grey Jedi will finally make it to the big screen. The previous films explored her relationship with favorite classic characters like Han Solo and General Leia Organa but it’s possible her future is one she’s meant to carve out for herself. Supreme Leader Snoke is gone but could Rey and Ben Solo have to face an even greater threat, possibly one they can’t defeat on their own? This franchise is still going strong after all these years but in order to grow it needs to evolve and that could hold true for the users of the Force as well.
