Today we mounted the Toro 12.5hp flathead engine onto my yardmachines carcass of crap. I had to modify the front hood bracket to accommodate the toro muffler set up. I had to bypass the safety switches and rewire a new fuse holder. Removed the deck and attached the double stack pulley. Installed a new battery and throttle lever and cable. Installed a new fuel line and filter. Took a test drive on my driveway and it runs and drives well. Next we will address the mower deck which appears to be seized.
I picked this free mower up along with another one off the street thanks to a tip from my friend Quinn “The Mailman”.
The mower was apart and the previous owner had recoiled the engine cover backwards. I repaired the recoil starter, but turns out the engine had a blown connecting rod.
Took me all day to install the new mower deck belt and mower deck and figure out the adjustment to the PTO engagement. I also fixed the headlight switch and why the battery wasn’t charging.
