U.K. Prime Minister Boris Johnson is in intensive care after his fight with the coronavirus took a troubling turn. Johnson, a key Trump ally, was taken to a hospital on Sunday over a week after testing positive for the virus. Elizabeth Palmer reports on the British leader’s health and efforts to lead the country through the pandemic from London.

U.K. Housing Minister Robert Jenrick spoke to reporters on Sunday about the country’s response to the novel coronavirus pandemic, stating that the U.K. is currently on “emergency footing.”

“We haven’t done anything like this since the Second World War,” Jenrick said.

More than 19,000 people in the U.K. have tested positive for COVID-19 and more than 1,200 people have died.
