There’s more optimism this morning on Australia’s efforts to limit the spread of coronavirus.
For the first time since the pandemic began there’ve been no new reported cases in a 24 hour period in Australia’s worst affected state New South Wales
The news comes while there are more announcements about restrictions gradually being lifted in different states and territories. So while there’ve been close to 100 deaths here in Australia, there is this growing sense of hope about a managed transition back to some form of normality.

The White House coronavirus task force provides updates on the efforts to fight the pandemic that has now claimed more than 12,000 lives in the United States, and completely shut down the U.S. and global economies.

President Trump was asked about the acting Secretary of the Navy being forced to resign after backlash over the relief of command of Capt. Brett Crozier, the former commanding officer aboard the USS Theodore Roosevelt. After Crozier widely distributed a letter about coronavirus spreading on his aircraft carrier and pleading for help from the Secretary of the Navy and Department of Defense, the letter leaked to the press.
The global death toll from coronavirus will pass through 75,000 in the next few hours with more than 1.3 million confirmed cases.
The United States death toll has surged through 10,000 and is on the worst trajectory by far of any country.
