As states continued to reopen, President Donald Trump proclaimed, “I just want to make something clear, it’s very important. Vaccine or no vaccine, we’re back and we’re starting the process.” At the same time, the United States’ coronavirus death toll continues to rise, with different regions across the nation experiencing different curves.» Subscribe to MSNBC: http://on.msnbc.com/SubscribeTomsnbc

The House of Representatives voted to pass the largest relief package in U.S. history on Friday evening, but the $3 trillion bill faces an uphill battle in the Senate and White House. Meanwhile, President Trump is at Camp David with several Republican lawmakers this weekend after setting an ambitious target to develop a coronavirus vaccine by the end of the year. Nikole Killion breaks down what’s inside the historic relief package.

“Operation Warp Speed” hopes to develop and distribute a coronavirus vaccine by the end of 2020 — a goal that outpaces what most experts believe is possible. President Trump says the country will return to normal with or without one.

Donald Trump has stepped up his anti-China rhetoric saying he was very disappointed over its failure to contain the novel coronavirus.

It’s now thought the US-China trade deal could be under threat.

As Washington and Beijing signed a Phase 1 trade deal in December, hailed by the Republican president as a major achievement, the COVID-19 outbreak broke out in Wuhan, China, and was spreading silently

In an interview broadcast on Fox Business Network the US President said:

“They should have never let this happen… I make a great trade deal and now I say this doesn’t feel the same to me. The ink was barely dry and the plague came over. And it doesn’t feel the same to me.” read more

US President Donald Trump has clashed with his top Covid-19 adviser Dr Anthony Fauci, accusing him of wanting “to play all sides of the equation”.

The US’ top infectious disease expert urged caution about reopening schools, and the economy.

“We don’t know everything about this virus and we really better be pretty careful, particularly when it comes to children,” Fauci told a Senate committee.

But Mr Trump described it as “not an acceptable answer”.

“Our country’s got to get back and it’s got to get back as soon as possible. And I don’t consider our country coming back if the schools are closed,” he said. read more

Dr. Anthony Fauci has found himself in the crosshairs of both President Donald Trump and networks like Fox News after he warned against opening the country too quickly. Trump claimed Fauci’s remarks about reopening schools, made during a Senate briefing on federal coronavirus response, contradicted what Fauci had told him privately. And several Fox News personalities have attacked Fauci’s credibility, and said his expertise should be dismissed because he is an unelected official. Aired on 5/13/2020.

During an event at the White House on Monday, President Trump told CBS News White House correspondent Weijia Jiang to “ask China” when pressed on the rising death toll caused by the coronavirus outbreak in the U.S. CBS News chief Washington correspondent Major Garrett joins CBSN’s Elaine Quijano to discuss.

More than two months after the first confirmed case of coronavirus, the U.S. still doesn’t have enough tests.
