The question of whether to reopen schools in the fall has a “complicated answer” and the decision will depend on the coronavirus’ transmission in certain regions of the U.S., White House health advisor Dr. Anthony Fauci said on Friday.

“It has to be a bit of a — and I don’t mean lengthwise — a bit of a complicated answer, because the United States is a large country,” he said during an interview Friday on CNBC’s “Halftime Report.” read more

Boris Johnson has told MPs he is “confident” that the government will have a “world beating” system to test, track and trace people with coronavirus infection by June 1st.

He was responding to criticism from Labour’s leader Sir Keir Starmer who said the lack of effective tracing of infected people had left a “huge hole in our defences”. The Labour leader compared the UK death toll to places with intensive test and tracing such as Germany and South Korea, where deaths are far lower. read more

A comparison is also made to how HIV infects T-cells with a key difference being that HIV actually utilizes T-cells of the human immune system to replicate itself (and this has not been observed with SARS-CoV-2.
