The ending of the film can be taken in two different directions, and Natalie Portman was worried about this. While they were applying the blood to the stab wound on Natalie, she told Aronofsky that she was worried that the placement of the blood would make people think it was a period. He said that he did this intentionally to symbolize her becoming a woman. Because of this, Natalie doesn’t think that Nina dies at the end. She sees it more as Nina having to kill the little girl in order to mature. read more
