The UK health secretary has said there is a risk of an increase in Covid-19 cases following the Black Lives Matter protests this weekend, while denying Britain is a racist country. Speaking to Sky’s Sophy Ridge on Sunday, Matt Hancock said: ‘I support very strongly the argument that is being made by those who are protesting … but the virus itself doesn’t discriminate and gathering in large groups is temporarily against the rules precisely because it increases the risk of the spread of this virus’

The CDC is suggesting the coronavirus likely started spreading in the U.S. much earlier than it was detected. The U.S. death toll surpassed 102,000 on Friday, as many states began re-opening businesses. Mola Lenghi reports.

The World Health Organisation has given an update on the global COVID-19 pandemic.

Almost 2-point-5 million cases of the virus have been reported to the world body, with more than 160-thousand deaths.
The WHO says it sees different trends in different regions, and even within regions.
Speaking in Geneva, Switzerland Wednesday night, the Organisation’s Executive Director Dr Michael Ryan singled out South Africa .. praising it for its handling of the COVID-19 pandemic. read more

In a news conference on Tuesday (Apr 14), Manpower Minister Josephine Teo explained why COVID-19 is spreading quickly through Singapore’s foreign worker dormitories: “Despite the safe distancing measures that were in place then in these dormitories, the virus in the dorms spread through socialising activities – much like it would spread among housemates, friends and also in the community.”
