Disturbing new video shows the moments before a man, who was launched in a homemade rocket, plunged to his death. About 50 people gathered in a San Bernardino County desert to watch Science Channel star ‘Mad Mike’ Hughes make the launch Saturday.

But the rocket apparently hit a steel ladder on the launch ramp and ripped off a parachute can, which opened and got caught in the thrust of the rocket.

Do not demand apologies. I will not apologize for mocking stupidity. If you choose to deny science and common sense and go build yourself an unsafe rocket to launch yourself thousands of feet into the sky with no unmanned testing you deserve an award. The Darwin Award.

I guess I should have stressed this more. I am not purely mocking his belief of flat earth. The majority of the mockery is directed at his thoroughly unsafe rocket. But I don’t believe most are reading this far anyway so not a big deal. read more
