Thousands of protesters have gathered in central London, despite police warnings to avoid demonstrations.

Police were pelted with bottles during confrontations in Parliament Square, where groups said they were protecting statues from anti-racism activists.

The Met Police placed restrictions on several groups intending to protest, following violent scenes last weekend. read more

Thousands of people turned out in Washington, D.C., on Saturday for a major protest as demonstrations against police brutality and the death of George Floyd ramp up.

Officials prepared for the protests by closing a significant number of roads around the city’s downtown area, with demonstrations in the nation’s capital entering a second consecutive weekend.

Protesters started to congregate on 16th Street and the newly named Black Lives Matter Plaza in northwest D.C. near the White House a couple of hours before noon. read more

Ruptly is live from New York City, as demonstrations in reaction to the killing of over George Floyd’s death are set to continue on Monday, June 8.

George Floyd, a 46-year-old black man, was killed during an arrest in Minneapolis on Monday, May 25, after officer Derek Chauvin knelt on his neck for nearly nine minutes despite Floyd protesting he couldn’t breathe.

The officer was arrested and charged with third-degree murder and manslaughter and is due to appear in court today. read more

Around 200 demonstrators gathered in Berlin on Saturday to protest against COVID-19 measures, arguing with police officers that their constitutional rights had been infringed.

According to Berlin’s police spokesperson, about 180 officers were in place to uphold containment regulations as health authorities had not given permission for the gathering to take place.

Germany’s confirmed COVID-19 cases had increased by 2,055 to a new total of 152,438, data from the Robert Koch Institute (RKI) for infectious diseases showed on Saturday, which is a second day of deceleration after three days of acceleration in new infections. read more

Protesters gather in their cars for a rally against the Virginia lockdown to prevent the spread of coronavirus.

Since last week, thousands of demonstrators — in more than a dozen states — took to the streets to demand stay-at-home orders be lifted.

But public health officials have warned that lifting restrictions too early could lead to a spike in cases.
