Premier McNeil and Dr. Strang provide a #COVID19NS update. Nova Scotia has 1,058 confirmed cases of #COVID19. No new cases were identified yesterday, when the lab completed 773 Nova Scotia tests.

A student from Keilor Downs Secondary College in Melbourne’s north-west has tested positive to coronavirus.

The school has now been closed for cleaning.

A teacher at the school tested positive earlier in the week.

On the 84th day of the #coronavirusoutbreak in New York, Governor Andrew Cuomo announced 84 deaths, the lowest amount since March 24.

Cuomo called the declining counts and rates of hospitalizations, intubations, and new Covid-19 cases “a sign that we’re making real progress.

Premier McNeil and Dr. Strang provide a #COVID19NS update, including information on two new cases and an expansion of the list of symptoms being screened for COVID-19.

0:02 – There’s been another death from coronavirus in New South Wales. The 80-year-old woman died in a Sydney hospital overnight and is believed to have caught the virus in an out-patient department. The state also recorded three new cases from community transmission.

0:18 – Victoria has added 12 new cases. Five are linked to the Cedar Meats cluster which now stands at 111.

0:33 – The last remaining COVID-19 patient in South Australia – Paul Faraguna has walked out of hospital. The 68-year old spent a month in an induced coma after contracting the disease on the Ruby Princess cruise ship. The state will relax some restrictions today. read more

For the first time since lockdown, residents of New South Wales will be allowed to leave the house for recreational purposes. A grim global milestone in the unfolding coronavirus pandemic but in Australia there’s some hope – the number of cases is showing signs of stabilising.

In this update:
0:00 There are now more than one million confirmed cases of covid-19 worldwide… More than fifty thousand people have died.

0:10 Australia has more than 5000 confirmed cases. A man in his 80s has died overnight in Victoria, taking the national toll to 25.

0:17 Two of those fatalities are linked to the Ruby Princess cruise ship, which remains off New South Wales. It’s one of 21 cruise ships being monitored by border force, with officials refusing to allow them to disembark. read more
