The Lyriq will come standard in rear-wheel drive form with an electric motor on the rear axle; all-wheel drive will be optional and adds a second motor at the front to drive those wheels. Cadillac has been mum on details about the Lyriq’s all-wheel drive powertrain so far, so we don’t know how much horsepower it will make; the rear-wheel drive model is said to produce 340 horsepower. Either way, acceleration is sure to be brisk, at least at lower speeds, thanks to the immediate nature of an electric motor’s power delivery. The I-Pace, for example, leapt to 60 mph in just 4.3 seconds during our testing; we expect the Lyriq to provide similar performance.

The 2023 Cadillac Lyriq has been officially revealed, ahead of its US launch in the first half of 2022.
First previewed by a 2020 concept of the same name, the Lyriq will launch as Cadillac’s first all-electric vehicle, with the large luxury SUV to ride on General Motors’ new Ultium modular battery architecture.
Powering the production Lyriq at launch is a 255kW/440Nm electric motor on the rear axle, connected to a 12-module, 100kWh lithium-ion battery pack for an “estimated” driving range of over 483km (300 miles).

The scalable technology allows the automaker to produce batteries that range in size from 50.0 kWh to 200 kWh, although the largest size is said to be reserved only for large EV pickup trucks such as the upcoming GMC Hummer EV SUT. Cadillac claims that the Lyriq will offer a battery with about 100-kWh worth of capacity and should be capable of driving ranges of more than 300 miles per charge. DC fast charging capability will be standard but the Lyriq will also be able to charge on home power outlets as well.So far there’s been no word from the EPA on the Lyriq’s estimated fuel economy (as expressed in MPGe), but we expect that to become available closer to the SUV’s on-sale date. We’ll also have the opportunity to put the Lyriq through our 200-mile highway fuel economy test in the future, and when we do we’ll update this story with results. Ram has been teasing a high-powered rival to the F-150 Raptor since it debuted a badass concept truck back in 2016, but now the wait is over and the teasing has turned to reality. What’s especially neat—besides the fact it packs a 700-plus-horsepower Hellcat motor—is that the production TRX looks pretty close to what was promised. With intimidating inflated bodywork, a bed-mounted spare-tire carrier, body-colored beadlock-capable wheels, and an abundance of other off-road goodies, the most radical Ram is, thankfully, fully realized.

The battle for the best high-performance pickup truck just got interesting now that the 702-horsepower Ram 1500 TRX has entered the arena. The Hellcat-powered half-ton has the Ford F-150 Raptor squarely in its sights, but until its Blue Oval rival adds more power and steps up its interior game, the Ram might rule. Rivalry aside, the TRX is an impressive and intimidating machine. Its body is 8 inches wider than the regular Ram 1500, and its off-road capabilities have been transformed. This is thanks to a stronger frame, an even more sophisticated suspension, and myriad other enhanced characteristics. The 2021 Ram 1500 TRX is also loaded with a seriously luxurious interior and packed with all the latest technology. The only question left is whether the TRX can fly higher over the jumps than the now seemingly obsolete Raptor.
