Coronavirus outbreak: The biggest worry along with the spike in positive cases is the spike in the death toll now. The number of individuals who are succumbing due to the Coronavirus infection is increasing and the death toll has become a big worry. India’s Coronavorus count stands at 2,36, 657. India is the sixth-worst affected country in the world. There have been about close to 10,000 new cases that have been reported in just 24 hours and this is the biggest spike in new cases that we have seen in just one day. The coronavirus pandemic has claimed over 32,000 lives in Brazil, as the South American country keeps recording new records of deaths everyday. Despite the alarming figures, several big cities, such as Rio de Janeiro, have started to ease lockdown measures and are reopening their economies. Brazil has over 500,000 cases, the second highest number in the World, only behind the United States.

Coronavirus death tolls in both Brazil and Mexico have both hit new daily records as the pandemic continues to take a toll on Latin America.
The number of cases in the region has been growing steadily since it became the epicentre of the global pandemic last month, with Brazil the worst-affected country.
But some of Brazil’s famous beaches have reopened, and other Latin American governments have already started lifting restrictions to help stem the economic fallout.

Alberta’s chief medical officer of health Dr. Deena Hinshaw gave an update on the most recent numbers of COVID-19 cases in the province Monday and the government’s ongoing response to the pandemic.

The province’s top doctor said that 34 new cases of COVID-19 were confirmed in Alberta in the last 24 hours, bringing the total number of active cases in the province to 400. She said 6,501 people have now recovered from the virus.

As of Monday, there were 53 people in hospital with COVID-19, six of whom were in intensive care units. Hinshaw said no new deaths have been reported. read more

British Columbia’s provincial health officer Dr. Bonnie Henry provided an update on the latest COVID-19 cases in the province and discussed the government’s ongoing response to the pandemic on Saturday.

Dr. Henry reported 11 new COVID-19 cases and no new deaths Saturday. The province now has a total of 2,573 COVID-19 cases and 2,181 have fully recovered.

Of the remaining 228 active cases in B.C., 35 people were in hospital and five in intensive care.

She also said the outbreak at Haro Park Centre has officially been cleared, as had another outbreak at the Evergreen House. read more

British Columbia health officials reported nine new cases of COVID-19 on Thursday and two additional deaths attributed to the virus.

Provincial health officer Dr. Bonnie Henry said B.C. has now recorded 2,558 cases in total, 84 per cent of whom have recovered.

Of the 241 active cases in the province, 33 are in hospital and six of those are in intensive care.

The province’s death toll is now 164.

Meanwhile, a new outbreak has been declared at a long-term care facility in the Fraser Health region, bringing the total number of residential or acute care facilities dealing with the virus to 16. read more

Ontario’s chief medical officer of health Dr. David Williams, along with the associate chief medical officer Dr. Barbara Yaffe, provided a briefing on Wednesday discussing the latest COVID-19 numbers and the ongoing efforts to combat the pandemic.

Ontario is reporting 292 new cases of COVID-19, with the total confirmed cases now at 26,483.
The province is also reporting 32 new deaths, bringing the total number who have died from COVID-19 to 2,155.

Meanwhile, 20,372 people have recovered from COVID-19, which is almost 77 per cent of cases read more

The U.S. reached the grim milestone of 100,000 deaths from the coronavirus, the highest official toll in the world. Earlier this month, the president revised the death toll estimate to “hopefully under 100,000.” Anthony Fauci, the U.S. government’s top infectious-disease expert, said there’s a “good chance” a vaccine may be deployable by November or December. The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention issued guidelines for reopening office buildings.

British Columbia’s chief medical officer of health Dr. Bonnie Henry and the province’s Minister of Health Adrian Dix provided a briefing on Monday to talk about the province’s ongoing efforts to fight COVID-19.

Dr. Henry reported that there are 12 new COVID-19 cases since Saturday and four new deaths, bringing B.C.’s COVID-19 death toll to 161. All four deaths were linked to the Langley Lodge long-term care facility.

British Columbia’s chief medical officer of health Dr. Bonnie Henry provided a briefing on Saturday to talk about the province’s ongoing efforts to fight COVID-19.

Dr. Henry reported 10 new cases of COVID-19 on Saturday to bring B.C.’s total number of cases to 2,517. She said there have been two new deaths in the province, both in long-term care homes in the Fraser Health region, bringing the total number to those who have died to 157.

She said the province has entered phase two of its reopening this week and noted that she has amended the province’s social gatherings restrictions to include gatherings in vehicles. read more

Ontario’s chief medical officer of health Dr. David Williams and associate chief medical officer of health Dr. Barbara Yaffe provided an update on Friday on the latest COVID-19 cases in the province and discussed the public health agency’s ongoing response to the pandemic.

Ontario reported 441 new cases of the novel coronavirus on Friday, bringing the provincial total to 24,628 cases. The province also reported 28 new deaths, bringing the death toll to 2,021.

Ontario will be moving forward with increased testing this weekend, including those who are asymptomatic. Those to be tested will include frontline health workers and other workplaces of concern. read more

On the 84th day of the #coronavirusoutbreak in New York, Governor Andrew Cuomo announced 84 deaths, the lowest amount since March 24.

Cuomo called the declining counts and rates of hospitalizations, intubations, and new Covid-19 cases “a sign that we’re making real progress.
