British Columbia health officials reported nine new cases of COVID-19 on Thursday and two additional deaths attributed to the virus.

Provincial health officer Dr. Bonnie Henry said B.C. has now recorded 2,558 cases in total, 84 per cent of whom have recovered.

Of the 241 active cases in the province, 33 are in hospital and six of those are in intensive care.

The province’s death toll is now 164.

Meanwhile, a new outbreak has been declared at a long-term care facility in the Fraser Health region, bringing the total number of residential or acute care facilities dealing with the virus to 16. read more

Alberta’s chief medical officer of health Dr. Deena Hinshaw provided an update on the most recent numbers of COVID-19 cases in the province Thursday and the government’s ongoing response to the pandemic.

The province’s top doctor said there were 33 new cases of COVID-19 confirmed in Alberta, bringing the total number of active cases to 926. She said 5,710 people have recovered.

Fifty-nine Albertans were in hospital as of Thursday, six of whom were in intensive care units. More than 4,000 lab tests were done in the last 24 hours. read more

All 50 states will have lifted their coronavirus restrictions and will begin a new normal, but the CDC reports that only two states have the guidelines to reopen as coronavirus cases continue to increase in some areas. Manuel Bojorquez has the latest.

Ontario’s chief medical officer of health Dr. David Williams released the province’s latest COVID-19 numbers on Saturday, confirming that there were 511 new cases of COVID-19, bringing the total number of cases in the province to 17,119.

He added that there were 55 new deaths reported in the province, bringing the total fatalities attributed to the virus to 1,176.

Over 11,300 cases are considered revolved, which makes up 66.5 per cent of all confirmed cases in Ontario.

Saturday’s report marks an increase in cases of 3.1 per cent compared to the day prior, while Friday saw an increase of 2.6 per cent. read more

British Columbia’s provincial health officer Dr. Bonnie Henry and Health Minister Adrian Dix gave an update on the latest COVID-19 cases in the province and to discussed the government’s ongoing response to the pandemic on Tuesday.

Henry confirmed 55 new cases of COVID-19 in B.C. and two additional deaths. There are 2,053 confirmed cases of the disease in the province, and 1,190 of those have fully recovered. The death toll stands at 105.

Ninety-four people are in hospital — a decrease of three patients from Monday — while 37 patients are in intensive care. read more

Ontario’s chief medical officer of health Dr. David Williams and associate chief medical officer of health Dr. Barbara Yaffe delivered a daily update Tuesday on the province’s response to the novel coronavirus pandemic.

Dr. Williams spoke about the shortage in medical supplies during the briefing, explaining that many countries were caught unprepared given the demand for masks and other supplies around the world. Williams compared the situation to the H1N1 pandemic and the SARS outbreak in Ontario and said in those cases, Ontario was able to more easily access supplies from other countries. read more

Kenya confirms 16 new COVID-19 cases,bringing the number to 142

Chief provincial health officer Dr. Bonnie Henry and health minister Adrian Dix provided an update Thursday on the province’s response to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Henry said there were 55 new cases of COVID-19 in the province and six people have died in the last 24 hours bringing the death toll to 31.

Henry said 641 people have recovered from COVID-19 and are out of isolation.

New Brunswick’s chief medical officer of health Dr. Jennifer Russell and Premier Blaine Higgs provided an update on the province’s COVID-19 fight on Wednesday.

Russell confirmed 11 new cases of the novel coronavirus during the briefing, bringing the total number of cases to 81. Russell said the new cases are in the age range of 20’s to 60’s.

Of the 81 cases, 43 are travel-related, 22 are close contacts of confirmed cases, three cases are from community transmission, and 13 cases remain under investigation. read more

New Brunswick is reporting seven new cases of COVID-19 in the province Thursday, bringing the provincial total to 33.

Chief Medical Officer of Health, Dr. Jennifer Russell says all seven new cases are travel-related.

She says the current testing regime is focused on testing those most at risk.

Russell says she expects more people to be tested once the province sees any cases of community transmission.
