Emmy-winning actor and Madison native Bradley Whitford is hosting “A Capitol Fourth,” a music and fireworks extravaganza that will be broadcast live on PBS from the west lawn of the U.S. Capitol.
Washington, D.C., June 25, 2019 – This July 4th, A CAPITOL FOURTH continues its 39-year tradition of celebrating our nation’s independence on the West Lawn of the United States Capitol building. Two-time Emmy Award-nominated actor and producer John Stamos (Netflix’s YOU, FULLER HOUSE, ER) returns to host the country’s longest-running live national July 4th TV tradition. A CAPITOL FOURTH’s family-friendly Independence Day celebration will commemorate our country’s 243rd birthday with all-star musical performances, and remains unaffiliated with any other July 4th events around the country, and in other locations in Washington, D.C.

We were in Washington D.C. to celebrate independence day! There were fireworks of course and artists such as Aretha Franklin, Sesame Street, and Natasha Bedingfield (I couldn’t include everybody in the vid because it would have been too long)

Emmy and Golden Globe Award-winning actor Jimmy Smits will host the all-star line-up that includes: Grammy and Emmy Award-winning actor and musician Steve Martin performing with the Steep Canyon Rangers; multi-platinum recording superstar Josh Groban; Tony, Emmy and Golden Globe nominated star of stage and screen who has just released his debut self titled album Matthew Morrison (Glee); American Idol winner Jordin Sparks; Rock ‘N Roll legend Little Richard performing with the cast of the Broadway smash hit Million Dollar Quartet; three time Tony-nominated Broadway star Kelli O’Hara; and the National Symphony Orchestra under the direction of top pops conductor Jack Everly.
A CAPITOL FOURTH will air live in HD on PBS Monday, July 4, 2011 from 8:00 to 9:30 p.m. ET (check local listings) before a concert audience of hundreds of thousands, millions more at home, as well as to our service members around the world on the American Forces Network.
