T-Mobile had some fun imagining just how Gwen Stefani and fiancé Blake Shelton got together in a funny Super Bowl commercial. In the hilarious ad, which takes place a few years ago, Stefani is on a video call with fellow “Voice” coach Adam Levine, telling him she’s ready to start dating. Watch TODAY All Day! Get the best news, information and inspiration from TODAY, all day long.“I’m sick of L. A. guys,” she says when the Maroon 5 frontman asks what she’s looking for.“I want someone completely different, maybe from another country. And someone cultured and sensitive and who’s not threatened by a strong, confident woman,” she replies. However, the network isn’t too good, so Levine, who’s sitting in a restaurant, heard something else entirely.“I’m sick of L. A. guys,” he heard. “I want someone completely country, uncultured and threatened by a strong, confident woman.”At that moment, Shelton excitedly walks by with wings and nachos.“I have your guy,” Levine replies, chuckling. The commercial then speeds ahead to Stefani in a restaurant, mortified to find Shelton approaching her.“Oh my god. Hilarious, right?” she says.“I mean, no,” she adds, seemingly brushing him off before she questions whether he wore spurs and rode a horse to their date. The ad calls to mind T-Mobile’s earlier Super Bowl commercial, which explained how spotty service resulted in Tom Brady winding up playing with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. It certainly resonated with fans, who loved the commercial. read more

Ever think about Gwen Stefani and Blake Shelton’s relationship and wonder, “Huh, how’d that happen?” Them too, apparently. The couple teamed up with their Voice co-star Adam Levine for a Super Bowl LV ad for T-Mobile that poked fun at the unexpected nature of their relationship. In the hilarious clip, Stefani can be seen FaceTiming with Levine telling him she’d ready to meet a guy. But due to a spotty connection, her relationship requirements get a bit muddled, leading to Levine setting up the No Doubt singer with the country star. The ad even shows fans a glimpse of their “first date”—spurs and all. It’s proof that while opposites might attract, it’s not always at first sight. Watch the spot for yourself. The commercial was one of the big game’s most memorable ads, with Twitter lighting up over the couple’s willingness to troll themselves. Others though found the premise a bit confusing: was the ad claiming the couple had broken up (or never been together to begin with)? Or that if you wanted to find love, you shouldn’t use T-Mobile? If you thought Gwen Stefani had No Doubt about Blake Shelton, think again. On Super Bowl Sunday, a new T-Mobile ad reveals the “real” reason the pair got together, showing it all had to do with … what else … spotty phone coverage. The ad shows Stefani on a call with “The Voice” co-star Adam Levine, telling him she’s ready to start dating again (presumably after her breakup with Gavin Rossdale). Among her many requests, she says she’s after a cultured guy who may be from another country. Thanks to bad phone coverage, Levine only heard she was looking for someone uncultured from the country, and that led him to his “The Voice” frenemy Shelton. The pair are set up on a date, and hilarity ensues. T-Mobile says don’t trust your love life to “just any network,” but considering Shelton and Stefani are now engaged, maybe bad coverage isn’t so bad after all? Calling all HuffPost superfans! Gwen Stefani’s bad cell connection with Adam Levine leads to awkward blind date with Blake Shelton in hilarious Super Bowl ad for T-Mobile

Super Bowl LV certainly delivered on the sports drama on February 7, 2021. Seasoned champ Tom Brady and his Tampa Bay Buccaneers served up a defeat for the Kansas City Chiefs and their quarterback Patrick Mahomes as they tried for a repeat championship win.

For those who don’t care much about sports, the big game was still worth watching. The Weeknd absolutely slayed the halftime show, and in the main event for many, the commercials kept viewers glued to the screen. State Farm nailed it with a surprise cameo from Drake in its ad, and Tracy Morgan’s Super Bowl spots for Rocket Mortgage proved divisive. read more

If you’re still a bit surprised that Blake Shelton and Gwen Stefani are somehow the perfect match, the two stars themselves are right there with you.  Blake spoke to Today’s Natalie Morales on Wednesday, Feb. 10, where he discussed the recent Super Bowl ad that he and Gwen appeared in for T-Mobile. In the spot, Gwen reaches out to former The Voice coach Adam Levine in a fake flashback and explains what she’s looking for in a man. But because of the garbled connection, Adam ends up hearing the exact opposite of what she wants, and hence, he thinks of Blake.  “That’s what was funny about that commercial,” the 44-year-old country superstar explained during his Today appearance.   While the couple have proven to be ideal for each other and announced their engagement in October after five years together, they also realize that fans continue to express confusion about their pairing.   “Every day, if I look at social media or wherever, there’s always somebody commenting, going, ‘Man, what the hell happened to this world where Gwen Stefani and Blake Shelton are a thing now,'” Blake said, smiling. “So we thought it’d be fun to have some fun with it.” Luckily, they’re having the last laugh, not to mention that their famous fans continue to support the relationship. Indeed, Miley Cyrus recently offered her services as a wedding singer for the upcoming nuptials. The exchange began on Jan. 31 when Gwen complimented Miley on her performance for NPR’s Tiny Desk Concerts. The “Prisoner” singer was understandably thrilled by the praise and then added, “ALSO @gwenstefani @blakeshelton I’ll be your wedding singer! I promise to be on my best behavior. Or worst. whatever you want! It’s your special day! Cheers to loving you both almost as much as you love each other!”   See, Blake? There’s at least one fan who can wrap their head around this match.   (E! and NBC are both part of the NBCUniversal family.) read more
