Miley Cyrus performed a real live concert for TikTok’s Tailgate Pregame Show — which, as Stereogum points out, had the 7,500 vaccinated health care workers that were invited to the Super Bowl in attendance. Miley thanked the healthcare workers several times throughout her set, and she loaded the show with surprises. She brought out Billy Idol and Joan Jett for their parts on Plastic Hearts songs “Night Crawling” and “Bad Karma,” and then she did Idol’s own “White Wedding” with him and Jett’s own “Bad Reputation” and “I Hate Myself For Loving You” with her. “If it wasn’t for Joan Jett, without her I don’t think I would be me,” Miley said. She also did tons of the cool covers she’d been doing recently (Dolly Parton’s “Jolene,” Blondie’s “Heart of Glass,” Nine Inch Nails’ “Head Like A Hole”, Stevie Nicks’ “Edge of Seventeen,” and what sounded like a tease of Pixies’ “Where Is My Mind” during “We Can’t Stop”), and she added another very cool one to that list: Bikini Kill’s “Rebel Girl” (a song that, speaking of Joan Jett, was produced by Joan). She also opened her set with a cover of Toni Basil’s “Mickey” (in a cheerleading uniform), and did plenty of her own fan faves like “Prisoner,” “Nothing Breaks Like A Heart,” “Midnight Sky,” “Party in the U. S. A.,” “Wrecking Ball,” and more. She sounded great, and the whole set was a really nice (and hopefully safe) reminder of the power of actual live music. Los Angeles chillwave band Poolside has released a remix of Billy Idol’s “Eyes Without a Face.”  The Poolside version stays close to the original recording — from Idol’s second album, 1983’s Rebel Yell — keeping Perri Lister on backing vocals while adding lush, languid beats.  “I’m flattered that Poolside chose to remix ‘Eyes Without a Face,’” Idol said in a statement. “Steve Stevens and Keith Forsey helped me take the original recording somewhere special back in 1983. Poolside’s new remix guides the song in another direction with its chill vibe, ethereal beats, and melodies.”  Added Poolside’s Jeffrey Paradise: “Truly such an honor to remix ‘Eyes Without a Face’ by the legend Billy Idol. I’ve been a fan of Billy’s since my youth, and this is one of my favorite songs ever. Watch: Miley Cyrus Shoots Her Shot With Harry Styles Miley Cyrus brought some fellow rebels to the Super Bowl this year, and turned the event into a true rock n’ roll show. However, it wasn’t one without some heavy emotions.   The singer, who headlined Super Bowl LV’s “TikTok Tailgate” at Raymond James Stadium in Tampa Bay, donned a cheerleader uniform in order to celebrate the kickoff of the football game in front of thousands of frontline workers who have already been vaccinated for the coronavirus.  While Cyrus performed a cover of Toni Basil’s “Mickey” (changing the lyrics to “Miley,” of course), her 2020 hit “Prisoner” and a cover of Blondie’s “Heart of Glass” solo, she also included some interesting collaborators into her career-defining performance.   The former Hannah Montana star was joined by Joan Jett, an artist who clearly had a great deal of influence on Cyrus’ latest album Plastic Hearts, for renditions of three of the former Runaways member’s most memorable hits: “Bad Reputation,” “Bad Karma” and “I Hate Myself for Loving You.”  It wasn’t just Jett who Cyrus included in the pre-show. Billy Idol also graced the stage, where he and Cyrus performed their joint Plastic Hearts track “Night Crawling” and a duet of his song “White Wedding.” Miley’s performance also included covers of Nine Inch Nails’ “Head Like a Hole,” Bikini Kill’s “Rebel Girl”—for which Cyrus showed off a treadmill performance of on Instagram earlier this week—and Dolly Parton’s “Jolene,” which she famously released a version of on YouTube in 2012.  She also rocked out to her new tracks “Nothing Breaks Like a Heart,” “Edge of Midnight” and “Angels Like You,” and threw it back to her more pop-focused past with hits like “We Can’t Stop” and “Party in the U.S.A.”   Things took an emotional turn, however, when it came time for Cyrus to perform her 2012 hit “Wrecking Ball,” which is rumored to be about her now ex-husband Liam Hemsworth. During the performance, Cyrus had to stop to choke back tears and restart the number. She told the crowd before she finished the song, “I wear a lot of glitter and I wear a lot of armor, but I also wear my heart on my sleeve, and it gets broken a lot.”  The artist made it through the other side, though.
