My hypothesis is that the algorithm, rather than viewer preference, drives views on the site. As the algorithm shifts, various YouTubers experience burnout (as what used to work no longer works) and right now click-through rate is the key metric. So clickable titles and thumbnails are the only way to get a lot of impressions and hence views – they are the only way to go viral. This leads me to wonder which audiences will become most prevalent on the site and if there will even be a place for educational content. In the long-term, hopefully YouTube is able to measure satisfaction through surveys and other metrics to ensure an optimal experience for everyone on the site. read more

Did winter just get extended? HBO president Casey Bloys told The Wrap on Monday, November 14, that the network is in talks to launch a prequel series to its Emmy-winning hit Game of Thrones, which has only two seasons remaining before it signs off for good. (Thrones season 7, which consists of seven episodes, premieres in summer 2017.)

Welcome back for another Game of Thrones Season 8 End Game Theory video. Today I am mostly talking about Bran Stark and the Night King. While everyone else is fighting over the Iron Throne, Bran Stark is trying to find the answers to stopping the Night King. The mission started when he was just a little boy, and it will finally come to a head before the end of next season. Unfortunately, Bran Stark only had a short amount of time to train with the Children of the Forest and the Three-Eyed Raven, but he is quickly learning how to gain control over his visions and flashbacks. The key to unlocking the Night King mystery lies within the weirwood net, and Bran will have to find this before the Night King comes, but what will he see? We know he needed to see the truth about Jon Snow’s parents, but that can’t be the only reason he was sent down this path. What else can he learn while tapping into the weirwood trees? Does it have anything to do with the Last Hero, or Azor Ahai? Can the Night King even be defeated for good? Bran Stark will find the answers to these questions, especially now that he has Samwell Tarly there to guide him. According to Samwell Tarly, Jon Snow is destined to lead the fight against the Night King, but he won’t be able to do this without their help. There will be a dream team in Winterfell next season, and with their powers combined they should be able to stop the Night King and the White Walkers for good, or so I hope so… Let me know what you think.
