I never actually knew all that much about Animal Crossing. It wasn’t a game that I’ve ever played, I never got into it like so many others do. So, if you’re anything like me, you might have been very surprised to see the reactions that people had when they announced the new one. The craze around Animal Crossing is huge, and very real, and frankly this is one of the biggest games in the world so it’s weird to me that I knew so little about it. New Horizons has sold the highest number of digital copies. of any title. on any console. in history, more than the digital sales of Super Smash Bros. Ultimate and Pokémon Sword and Shield combined. It’s a monolith of a title.
So I figured I’d look at it, get to know it a bit, see what the game’s all about, and while I was doing that… I found a dark side to Animal Crossing.
