Description:

A superbowl ring is not uncommon for the Superbowl players, but this year it isn’t just Tom Brady and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers walking away with one, the Weeknd is presented with his very own ring for his performance at the Super Bowl LV Halftime Show in Tampa.

It isn’t the official ring that the Bucs will receive but one of a kind version designed by celebrity Jeweller Elliot Eliantte and comes with 16 carats of VVS diamonds.

The front of the ring has an XO, sympolising his record label. There is a huge marquise-cut diamond which represents the Lombardi Trophy and the words ‘World Champions’ on one side.

There is also The Weeknd’s name and score of the game Tampa Bay Buccaneers 31 and Kansas City Chiefs 9 — as well as a football-shaped stone and the Super Bowl LV logo.

The other side has the musician’s name spelled out again and the Pepsi Halftime Show logo, along with diamonds in various cuts surrounding the giant piece.

The Super Bowl LV broadcast had an amazing turnout of 96.4 million TV and streaming viewers. The Weekend delivered a 13 minute performance which included his recent hits like Blinding Lights and Save Your Tears, as well as older favorites like Can’t Feel My Face, The Hills and Earned It.

Despite winning over 2 weeks ago, the Bucs rings have not yet been given out. Typically the rings are given to players to keep for themselves to symbolise their victory since there is only one Vince Lombardi Trophy.

The rings are typically made of yellow or rose gold with diamonds. They usually include the team name, team logo, the phrase “World Champions”, and the Super Bowl number (usually in Roman numerals). Many rings feature diamonds in the shape of the Vince Lombardi Trophy or a football, to illustrate the number of Super Bowls that the franchise has won. The rings are also customized with the player’s name and uniform number.

The NFL contributes approximately $5,000-$7,000 per ring for up to 150 rings for the winning team according to express, although additional costs are borne by the team and would be well in excess of that.

Express reports;

“The New England Patriots were Super Bowl champions in 2019 and they had Super Bowls rings with 422 diamonds, 20 blue sapphires and which were embedded in 10K white gold.

These cost $36,500 (£27,700) each and are the most expensive ever produced by Jostens, according to ESPN.”

The resale value can vary however, NFL Hall of Fame linebacker Lawrence Taylor auctioned his Super Bowl XXV ring in 2012. It sold for $230,401 (£174,794).

So there you have it, only the select few will get these rings and if you are lucky enough to get one then it is definitely worth a fair bit.
