Those infected are from Anglican High School, CHIJ Katong Convent, CHIJ St Theresa’s Convent, Geylang Methodist Secondary School and Hwa Chong Institution. 29 staff members and 100 students who were in contact with them are on leave of absence or home quarantine order. Director of Medical Services at the Singapore Ministry of Health Kenneth Mak also spoke at the news conference.
Ontario Premier Doug Ford, Deputy Premier and Health Minister Christine Elliott, Children, Community and Social Services Minister Todd Smith, and Jamil Jivani, Ontario’s advocate for community opportunities, held a COVID-19 briefing on Thursday.
On Thursday, Ford said that while the number of cases in Ontario had remained at approximately the same level, he said it still appeared positive. The province is still looking at when they can begin the next stage of reopening and Ford said they would be opening up short term rentals for cottages and bed and breakfast businesses once it’s approved by the province’s health committee, but he hopes rentals will be allowed to reopen by next week.

The White House announced additional staffers tested positive for the novel coronavirus Friday, including a personal assistant to Ivanka Trump.
Ivanka Trump’s personal assistant is among the latest at the White House to test positive for the coronavirus. Vice President Pence’s press secretary, Katie Miller, tested positive this week, as well as a White House valet. The White House insists it is taking precautions, but President Trump was not seen wearing a mask at a ceremony for WWII veterans. This comes as whistleblower Rick Bright spoke out on “60 Minutes” after being removed from his job for what he says was “putting science over politics.” Nikole Killion looks at the exclusive interview.
The news about Katie Miller, who is married to Stephen Miller, one of President Donald Trump’s closest advisers, comes a day after a personal valet also tested positive.

Coronavirus now appears to have a firm foothold in the White House. Katie Miller, press secretary to Vice President Mike Pence, has tested positive for coronavirus. Ben Tracy reports.
During a provincial update on Friday, Alberta’s chief medical officer of health Dr. Deena Hinshaw confirmed that an inmate at the Calgary Remand Centre has tested positive for COVID-19, saying that “this is someone newly admitted who was exposed before they arrived.”
She said it marks the first confirmed COVID-19 case at a correctional facility in Alberta.
Hinshaw also said she would be shifting the way she presents the province’s daily COVID-19 numbers, stating that a key measure health officials are watching ahead of Alberta’s relaunch strategy is hospitalizations and intensive care unit admissions.
