Scotland and Northern Ireland have both reported no new coronavirus deaths as the UK saw its lowest number of fatalities since March.

Scotland’s announcement on Sunday marks the first time it has seen no Covid-19 deaths since lockdown began back in March.

Northern Ireland has previously seen days with no deaths.

Across the UK, a further 77 people have died after contracting coronavirus, bringing the total number of fatalities to 40,542.

However, there are fears that as lockdown is eased, cases across the UK could rise. read more

Doctors in Dagestan, Russia are becoming overwhelmed with the number of coronavirus cases and many are continuing to work despite having pneumonia.

Many are beginning to question to official mortality statistics, which show low numbers of COVID-19 related deaths despite Russia having one of the highest number of infections in the world.

Aaron Kirman, president of the LA-based Aaron Kirman Group, discusses the impact of the pandemic on the Los Angeles real estate market.

Quebec Premier François Legault reported the lowest number of new cases of COVID-19 since April 11 on Tuesday, with 570 new infections.

He also reported 51 new deaths due to COVID-19, bringing the total number of deaths in the province to 3,647.

The total number of COVID-19 cases in Quebec stands at 44,197 as of Tuesday.

Quebec nurses held a demonstration outside of Legault’s office in Quebec City on Tuesday to draw attention to difficult working conditions during the pandemic.

Legault said during Tuesday’s briefing that he was disappointed by the demonstration and he wants to meet with union representatives. read more

Ontario’s chief medical officer of health Dr. David Williams and associate chief medical officer of health Dr. Barbara Yaffe provided an update on COVID-19 on Friday.

Dr. Yaffe reported a total of 21,922 cases of COVID-19 in Ontario, an increase of 428 cases since Thursday, adding that “due to a data upload issue, 87 cases were missed on Thursday’s report, but now included in Friday’s report.”

The actual number of cases on Thursday was 345, instead of the 258 that was previously reported. read more

Saskatchewan Premier Scott Moe and the province’s chief medical officer Dr. Saqib Shahab announced the latest COVID-19 numbers on Friday and provided an update on the province’s response to the virus.

The number of new coronavirus cases in Saskatchewan’s far north continues to rise, with 12 of the 13 new cases reported in the province on Friday located in La Loche and surrounding areas.

An outbreak was declared in the La Loche area on April 17.

The far north, which as 148 cases, accounts for nearly three-quarters of the 203 active cases in the province. read more

The Western Cape remains the epicentre of the coronavirus outbreak in South Africa. It’s currently recording the highest number of infections and deaths. Premier Alan Winde on Thursday gave a media update on the province. Community transmission is well established and numbers are expected to increase as the virus continues to spread.

There is a glimmer of hope as the total number of UK deaths decline from peak, new figures from the ONS suggest.

There was a slight fall in the total number of deaths registered in England and Wales in the week ending 24 April – driven by a decrease in the number of hospital deaths, according to new figures.

B.C. has recorded 11 COVID-19 deaths since Saturday, says B.C.’s provincial health officer.

A visibly emotional Dr. Bonnie Henry said Monday the majority of those new deaths were linked to outbreaks in seniors’ care homes.

The virus has now killed 69 British Columbians — more than half of them in seniors’ facilities.

British Columbia confirmed 45 new cases Monday, bringing the provincial total to 1,490 lab-confirmed cases of the virus — about two thirds of whom have fully recovered.

More than 250 of B.C.’s COVID-19 cases are linked to outbreaks in 20 Metro Vancouver seniors’ homes. read more

As of Sunday, the total number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in South Africa is 2173. This is an increase of 145 from the previously reported cases.
