Spider-Man, Mysterio and M.J. in the house! Sony Pictures’ Spider-Man: Far From Home stars Tom Holland, Jake Gyllenhaal and Zendaya visited Children’s Hospital Los Angeles to surprise patients at an advance screening of the new movie. Though the film doesn’t open until July 2, these kids got a first look, and then a surprise Q&A with the stars, who showed up in full costume. Tom, Jake and Zendaya brought high fives, autographs, back flips, selfies and infinite smiles to the kids.

Doctors in Dagestan, Russia are becoming overwhelmed with the number of coronavirus cases and many are continuing to work despite having pneumonia.

Many are beginning to question to official mortality statistics, which show low numbers of COVID-19 related deaths despite Russia having one of the highest number of infections in the world.

The number of deaths among Covid-19 patients in UK hospitals has risen past 22,000.

A further 445 deaths were reported by NHS England, taking the total to 19,740.

A total of 73 new deaths in Wales brought the total there to 886. The toll in Scotland rose to 1,415 after 83 new deaths were announced.

The 601 new deaths brings the total across those three NHS bodies to 22,041.

Health minister Matt Hancock and professor Yvonne Doyle provided an update Sunday on the ongoing response to COVID-19, as Prime Minister Boris Johnson was discharged from a London hospital after being admitted for persistent COVID-19 symptoms.

Before beginning the update, Hancock said it was “great news” that Johnson was discharged, adding that Johnson’s thoughts are with those affected, and that he is thankful for both those who supported his recovery and the National Health Service (NHS) staff who cared for him. read more

Dr. Umesh Gidwani, chief of cardiac care at Mount Sinai Hospital in New York, took video of himself to give a “day in the life” perspective of what he and his colleagues have been dealing with during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Gidwani introduces several doctors and nurses working in his unit as they work to save “as many lives as possible.”

At the end of the day, in which one person died, Gidwani says he hopes to “scrub the coronavirus off my body, if not my soul” when he leaves the hospital. read more

B.C. chief medical officer of health Dr. Bonnie Henry said on Friday that the province had seen four more deaths and 53 new positive cases, bringing the total to 1,174.

She said the number of hospitalizations had gone down to 146 people, with 64 in critical care.

Henry said 641 people have recovered from COVID-19 and are out of isolation.

The first of the government’s emergency field hospitals to treat coronavirus patients has opened in east London’s ExCel centre.

The temporary NHS Nightingale Hospital is able to hold as many as 4,000 patients and will be staffed by NHS medics with help from the military.

Prince Charles paid tribute to staff as he opened the hospital via video link.

Similar hospitals are planned across the UK, including in Cardiff, Glasgow, Manchester, Harrogate and Bristol.

The ExCel exhibition space – usually used for large events such as Crufts and Comic Con – was transformed into a hospital in just nine days. read more
