With a little more than a week to go before the deadline to reopen the Canada/U.S. border, prime minister Justin Trudeau faced many questions about an update on when the border will reopen.

Global News’ Mike Le Couteur and Mercedes Stephenson break down Justin Trudeau’s latest update to Canadians on the government’s response to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Trudeau is facing renewed pressure to share government modelling on the best-case and worst-case scenarios for the coronavirus pandemic.
He has repeatedly declined to share modelling of potential outcomes with Canadians even while warning that social distancing rules could last months.
But on Thursday, he said some more information will be coming “soon” even as he insisted that sharing modelling would not be useful.
Japan Prime Minister Shinzo Abe is facing growing calls to declare a state of emergency over the COVID-19 outbreak. The government’s panel of experts says Japan has yet to see a huge surge in coronavirus cases, but hospitals in key cities such as Tokyo and Osaka are already strained. CNA’s Michiyo Ishida gives some insight on the situation there.
