Coronavirus outbreak: New Brunswick officials to provide update on COVID-19 response | LIVE

New Brunswick health officials will confirm the most recent COVID-19 cases Wednesday morning and update the province’s response to the novel coronavirus pandemic.

On Tuesday, Premier Blaine Higgs and chief medical officer of health Dr. Jennifer Russell both said they would be looking for a steady drop in COVID-19 cases over the next two weeks in order to determine if the province is past the peak of the pandemic. Higgs said this time period will be “critical” in determining whether additional testing is needed or whether some protective measures could be scaled back.

Russell said that the province had no new confirmed cases or deaths from COVID-19. She said the recent numbers show they are “moving in the right direction but have not yet reached our destination.” Russell urged people to continue practicing physical distancing, staying at home as much as possible and washing their hands often.
